1540 Room is the dining room of The DeSoto hotel on Madison Square. The name points to Hernando de Soto's expedition through the Southeast in 1540 and the spice trade that followed. Chef Collin Clemons cooks seasonal Lowcountry menus from local farms, and the hotel says he was named the city's best chef less than a year after opening. Savannah Magazine readers voted it the best fine dining room in the city for 2026.
An inn with a dining room and a separate tavern that keeps its own hours. The inn says the tavern opens daily at 4pm and closes by 11pm, with food during kitchen hours.
A Bay Street wine bar named for its street number. The bar adds that 208 'symbolizes manifesting wealth and abundance' and then admits, 'It's also our address.' Live music some nights. Go before the band starts if you want to talk.
45 Bistro has been the dining room of The Marshall House hotel since 2001, the third home of a restaurant Sandy Hollander has run since the mid 1980s. The hotel sold on June 1, 2026 and its new owners plan to remake the space in 2027. Nobody publishes the noise level, and it is the thing that decides the night.
Good places to eat and drink in Savannah, minus the nightclubs. When a spot gets loud later or draws a lot of kids, the card tells you.

Katie Bryant and Mark Ekstrom, both from Pennsylvania, opened Auspicious in Sandfly in 2017 as a Sundays-only bakery. In March 2024 they bought the former Paula Deen's Creek House on Whitemarsh Island, announcing it with 'We bought a restaurant, y'all ... a big one'. That building now holds a second bakery counter and their brunch restaurant, Bread & Butter. Sand Cat Coffee on Tybee sells their ice cream, by one account.
A burger shop on Habersham that calls itself Savannah's late-night burger spot and posts hours until five in the morning. It is the first local name people give when someone asks where to eat after midnight. Opinion on the food is split ... fans go for the oddities like fried sandwiches, and a few commenters are blunt that they do not rate it.
Open late. Go earlier if you want a calmer room.
Kay Heritage started Big Bon in 2016 as a wood-fired pizza pop-up and grew it into a bodega serving scratch-made bagel sandwiches, Korean-inspired pizza and bowls. The shop calls itself veteran-owned and says it bakes with non-GMO flour and local honey and uses no seed oils. Its site carries a '2026 Georgia Small Business ROCK STAR' badge, and Savannah Magazine readers named it runner-up for Bagel in 2026.
Green Truck says it was founded on a simple premise: Savannahians deserve a casual place to eat and drink well. The kitchen makes its own ketchup, pimento cheese, salad dressing and veggie patties, and the burgers use grass-fed beef from Hunter Cattle. It takes no reservations, no call-ahead seating and no private events. Savannah Magazine readers named it runner-up for both Burger and Salad in 2026.
Kayak Kafe's own site names three principles ... health-conscious wholesome food, fresh daily preparation without preservatives or artificial additives, and 100 percent compostable to-go products. VegOut describes a vegan taco bowl with walnut meat and a lentil burger. The Broughton Street room sits at the corner of Bull, with a second room in Midtown.
Kayak Kafe is a Savannah pair, with this Midtown room at Paulsen and 66th and an older one downtown at 1 East Broughton. The kitchen says the food is made fresh daily with no preservatives or artificial flavors or colors, and that it gladly works around vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets. To-go containers are 100 percent compostable. Savannah Magazine readers voted Kayak best Salad, best Vegan and best Vegetarian in 2026.
Leopold's has been making ice cream in Savannah since 1919, and Visit Savannah calls the Broughton Street shop a vintage soda shop for a taste of nostalgia. The flavor list carries a full vegan line labeled as such ... vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, mocha, coconut, mint chocolate chip, coffee chocolate chip and peanut butter chippy ... plus five sorbets. There is a second scoop shop on Whitemarsh Island.
Savannah Square Pops makes small-batch ice pops named for the city's historic squares. Founders Judd and Mark left careers in law and technology to start it, and Eat It and Like It marked the shop's ten-year milestone in September 2026. None of the pops contain nuts, and there are vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free flavors. The shop also runs tours and pop-making demonstrations.
Sea Wolf sums itself up in three words on its site: oysters, dogs, fancy cocktails. The kitchen serves oysters, sausages and vegan food alongside house and classic cocktails, and it runs weekend brunch. The site says plainly that the bar has no telephone and takes no reservations. The same team runs the Cobra Room inside Lone Wolf Lounge in Savannah.
Sly's calls itself The Mecca of Mini. The menu runs to more than 18 sliders ... beef, pulled pork, chicken, hot dogs and vegetarian ... with hand-cut fries, and the sliders carry names like Tobacco Road and The Uncle Reuben. Savannah Magazine readers named it runner-up for Cheap Eats in 2026.
Kelli Pearson and Kristin Russell opened The Sentient Bean in 2001 at the south end of Forsyth Park, and the cafe's motto is brewing coffee and community since then. All of the coffee is organic and fair trade, the kitchen buys from local farmers, and the shop composts, recycles glass and is an EPA Green Power Partner. At night it turns into a small stage for live music, drag and burlesque shows, film nights, and an open mic on the first and third Tuesday run with Savannah Pride Center.
This is a music venue. It is loud when a show is on.
