1540 Room is the dining room of The DeSoto hotel on Madison Square. The name points to Hernando de Soto's expedition through the Southeast in 1540 and the spice trade that followed. Chef Collin Clemons cooks seasonal Lowcountry menus from local farms, and the hotel says he was named the city's best chef less than a year after opening. Savannah Magazine readers voted it the best fine dining room in the city for 2026.

45 Bistro has been the dining room of The Marshall House hotel since 2001, the third home of a restaurant Sandy Hollander has run since the mid 1980s. Eat It and Like It reported on September 14, 2026 that it will leave the hotel when the year ends ... the last service is December 31, 2026. The hotel sold on June 1, 2026 and its new owners plan to remake the space in 2027. The team has said it hopes to reopen elsewhere in Savannah. 45 Bistro is open now and has said it will leave The Marshall House on 31 December 2026.

The address is a lane, not a street ... Broughton Lane runs behind the shops on West Broughton. The bar calls itself 'a classy 1870's hidden gem basement bar highlighting Savannah's deepest library collection of fine spirits and cocktails.' Visit Savannah says the cocktail menu is large enough to fill a newspaper. In Savannah Magazine (13 April 2026) bar manager Chris Schofield called it just a bar in a basement with good vibes and better cocktails.

A cocktail bar in a restored landmark on Bull Street. The bar says the building was 'erected in 1896' on the site of the Georgia Hussars' former armory. It is a Daniel Reed Hospitality room, the Savannah group behind Public Kitchen and Bar, and its line on itself is 'It's Not So Old Fashioned.'
The venue calls itself the oldest restaurant on River Street, open since 1959, in a refurbished 18th century cotton warehouse. It prints a Lincoln Street address because the door sits on the ramp, and adds 'Located On River Street' beside it. The site describes it as locally family owned.
A bar, kitchen and ten duckpin lanes in the basement of the old Woolworth's building on Broughton Street. Savannah Agenda reported it opened on 7 March 2025 under Harley Krinsky and Chris Godfrey, who also own Congress Street Social Club and Sorry Charlie's Oyster Bar, with food from the Sorry Charlie's kitchen. Garden and Gun (April/May 2026) called it 'one of Savannah's welcoming small concert venues' for regional rock, funk and blues.

A French bistro with a pub room beside it. The venue describes 'one of Savannah's historic 19th-century spaces' with 'intricate tile floors, original architectural details, pressed-tin ceilings, and a handsome mahogany bar', and invites guests to have 'oysters and martinis at the bar' in the pub area.
The building at Jones and Jefferson opened in the early 1900s as the Gerken Family Grocery Store. William 'Blocko' Manning and his wife Connie bought it in the early 1930s, and the house history says it is rumored Blocko ran illegal hooch and a speakeasy during Prohibition. The Crystal calls itself one of the first American eating establishments to serve alcohol after repeal ... burgers were 30 cents and draft beer a dime. The Monroe Room is named for Monroe Whitlock, who worked there about 45 years. John Nichols runs it now, and Savannah Magazine readers picked it for the best burger in 2026.
Gallery Espresso opened around 1993 and calls itself Savannah's oldest coffee shop. It spent its first ten years in a basement, then moved in 2003 into a circa 1859 building at the south end of Chippewa Square. The walls work as a gallery ... the fall 2026 show is 'The Reckoning' by Mr Mahaffey, up through Halloween. There is seating outside and fireplaces inside.
Local 11ten cooks Southern food in a restored 1950s-era bank a block south of Forsyth Park, using Georgia coast seafood and vegetables and herbs from Savannah-area farmers. Upstairs is Perch, its rooftop bar, open when the weather allows. Visit Savannah lists a private dining room for up to 40.
Lucia calls itself a neighborhood fatto a mano pasta bar. Guests can sit at the pasta bar or in an Art Deco dining room the venue says has been restored to its 1930s style. The menu runs to handmade pasta, Neapolitan pizza and octopus, with Negronis on draft and an Italian wine list. Savannah Magazine readers named it runner-up for New Restaurant in 2026.
Mirabelle makes Liege waffles and serves them with specialty coffee and paninis from a vintage 1800s-era building across from the Cathedral of St. John. It also keeps what it calls a chocolate library of bean-to-bar bars, and rents four suites upstairs. No reservations.
Perch is the rooftop bar above Local 11 Ten, which the restaurant says occupies 'the restored 1950's-era downtown bank'. It is open only when the weather allows. It sits on the same block as the American Legion bar, Betty Bombers and Brighter Day.
Saint Bibiana is the coastal Italian restaurant of Hotel Bardo, tucked inside the historic mansion that faces Forsyth Park from Drayton Street. Executive Chef Jim Anile's kitchen makes its pasta in house, and the restaurant runs a hands-on cooking school with pasta intensives. It serves breakfast on weekdays, brunch Friday through Sunday and dinner every night.
Pitmaster Terren Williams is a Savannah native who cooked in Atlanta kitchens, then spent ten years in Dallas, Texas learning to smoke meat before coming home. His site says he burns a blend of oak and pecan and buys from local farmers. After about three years as a food truck and a short stay on Waters Avenue, Slow Fire is building a permanent room in a former gas station at 37th and Habersham, the old Baby's space, and serves from the truck there Thursday through Saturday in the meantime.
The chophouse sits in the Power Plant Building at Plant Riverside District, with the original brickwork and vintage fixtures left in view. It runs ticketed dinners ... a Pappy Van Winkle dinner on October 15, 2026 and a Babylonstoren wine dinner on October 18. Savannah Magazine readers made it the 2026 runner-up for steak.
The Bootlegger is the bar inside the River Street Inn. Savannah Magazine (13 April 2026) says it has operated there since early 2024, in a building about 230 years old that the inn reports to be haunted. Its own site describes it as 'Hidden beneath Savannah's legendary River Street'. The magazine names Roosevelt's Smoked Old Fashioned as the house drink and notes a First Friday Roaring '20s night.
A seafood and steak room inside a former cotton warehouse on River Street. Savannah's Waterfront, the riverfront merchants' site, tells diners to watch the ships roll in and out while they eat, and names the baked flounder with deviled crab.
The Darling came down from Charleston and opened on Franklin Square on November 5, 2025, in a historic building that had sat empty for years and needed a full rebuild. Savannah Agenda reports two floors with room for nearly 300, and a private dining room upstairs with its own kitchen and raw bar. Happy hour runs 4 to 6 every day with dollar oysters. Savannah Magazine readers made it the 2026 runner-up for oysters.
Johno Morisano and chef Mashama Bailey built The Grey inside a 1938 art deco Greyhound bus terminal that they restored. Bailey won the James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef: Southeast in 2019, as the restaurant's own site records. Savannah Magazine readers named her Best Chef again in the 2026 Best of Savannah issue.
Visit Savannah describes the building as a colonial mansion from the late 1700s that became Georgia's first bank in 1811 and a restaurant in 1971. Savannah Magazine readers voted its shrimp and grits the best in the city in 2026. Visit Savannah singles out the crispy scored flounder with apricot shallot sauce.
The restaurant stands on the Trustees' Garden, the ten acres General Oglethorpe set aside in 1733 as an experimental garden. Its Herb House dates to 1734 and is said to be the oldest standing building in Georgia; the inn for seafarers opened in 1753. Mary Hillyer restored the building in 1945, and Herbert Traub Jr. and James Casey opened it as a tea room in 1953. In the 1990s Ben Tucker and Emma Kelly ran the Hannah's East jazz club here.
The Rail Pub says its building 'has been everything from a watering hole for railroad laborers, to a boarding house and a brothel since its opening in 1890.' Karaoke runs, in the pub's words, 'every damn night @ 9pm.' Fridays are Free Fried Chicken Fridays with live music in the yard, and the website counts down the days to St. Patrick's Day. Happy hour lasts all day on Monday.

The Shrimp Factory serves Lowcountry seafood in a former cotton warehouse built in 1823, according to its own site, with views of the river from the dining room.
The Vault is set in a former neighborhood bank. The venue says the bank served Savannahians for over 50 years before the Rhino Hospitality Group turned it into an Asian fusion and sushi room. The old strongroom lends its name to The Vault Room, a private space for parties. Savannah Magazine readers voted it best Sushi and best Business Lunch in 2026.
Vic's sits in an old cotton warehouse on the bluff, with a dining room that looks over the Savannah River and a patio above Factors Walk. Savannah Magazine's 2026 readers' poll named it runner-up for both shrimp and grits and waterfront dining.
