1540 Room is the dining room of The DeSoto hotel on Madison Square. The name points to Hernando de Soto's expedition through the Southeast in 1540 and the spice trade that followed. Chef Collin Clemons cooks seasonal Lowcountry menus from local farms, and the hotel says he was named the city's best chef less than a year after opening. Savannah Magazine readers voted it the best fine dining room in the city for 2026.
An inn with a dining room and a separate tavern that keeps its own hours. The inn says the tavern opens daily at 4pm and closes by 11pm, with food during kitchen hours.
A Bay Street wine bar named for its street number. The bar adds that 208 'symbolizes manifesting wealth and abundance' and then admits, 'It's also our address.' A side-street bar a block off Bay Street. Eat It and Like It (14 May 2024): 'This bar's claim to fame? Art. In the form of hundreds of renditions of Abraham Lincoln drawn (by locals and tourists alike) on cocktail napkins.' The same piece says it has seating inside and out and is dog-friendly.
Go early. It turns into a late-night spot later in the evening.
Castaways is in the Shops at Sandfly, recently renovated and built around executive chef Kirk Blaine, a Savannah native who trained at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. The menu is seafood, wings, sandwiches and burgers with Lowcountry touches. Dogs are welcome, there is indoor and outdoor seating, and solo acts and small bands play. Its line is 'Where Everyone is Family'.

Clary's grew out of a drugstore, by its own account, and now serves breakfast all day from a corner on Abercorn Street. There is outside seating, and dogs at the outdoor tables get free treats ... only ADA service animals are allowed inside. Savannah Magazine readers made it the 2026 runner-up for breakfast.
Social Club sums itself up as 'Good Vibes. Great Bites. Bourbon Wall Worth Climbing.' It has a large outdoor area with live music, a late-night grill and a dog friendly patio, and calls itself 'one of Savannah's preferred independent concert venues.' It posts some of the latest hours downtown, open until 3am six nights a week.
This is a music venue. It is loud when a show is on.
Yia Yia's says it set out to be a neighborhood Greek restaurant that feels like Grandma's house on a Sunday. The kitchen serves gyros, Greek lasagna, spanakopita and falafel, and the market side sells Greek wines, olive oil, coffee and jams beside a bakery case. Savannah Magazine readers named it runner-up for Mediterranean in 2026.
Zunzibar grew out of Zunzi's, the Savannah sandwich counter that lost its York Street lease and moved to Drayton Street. The Drayton address now gives most of its room to Zunzibar, a coastal restaurant and cocktail bar, with Zunzi's takeout and catering running from the same kitchen. The brand has since opened on Tybee Island and in Jupiter and Middleton, Florida, and calls Savannah 'where it started'. The patio welcomes dogs.
